The barracks is part of the casemate system constructed from 1767 to 1832. These casemates stem from three construction periods. On the lower floor, portal embrasures and mason’s marks indicate a construction in the late 16th century. The upper casemates were built after the Seven Years‘ War (1756 - 1763). The Barracks IV accommodated soldiers, prisoners of war, and military prisoners and also served for defence.
