Park Cistern

Parkzisterne

In the past, they had five large cisterns for collecting rainwater at Königstein hill, usually in rock sinks. Probably, this large cistern already existed at the time of the Medieval castle construction. To prevent leaves falling in or evaporation, the cistern got a roof in 1897. It was additionally surrounded by a soakaway layer that filtered the incoming water. Today, it serves as a fire water reservoir.
