The armoury was erected in 1594 to store all types of warfare equipment – except for gunpowder. On the ground floor, the groin vaults rest on mighty pillars. Already in the 17th and 18th centuries, historic weapons were exhibited here. The upper floor and attic are accessible through an adjoined staircase. At first, they served as storage rooms, and after 1871, cells for prisoners were established. During World War I and II, the Old Armoury accommodated officers who were prisoners of war.
