On the cellars of a Medieval brewery, Elector John George I. (1585 - 1656) had a two-storey Renaissance stately home constructed in 1621/22. Later, the building was named “Magdalene’s Castle” after the wife of John George II. (1613 - 1680), who was called Magdalene Sibylle. The electoral court occupied the two upper floors. The attic and the two cellars served as provisions stores and wine cellars.
In 2019, its truss and façade were renovated. In its form and colour, the appearance follows the style of Magdalene’s Castle between 1850 and 1900.
