Constructed in 1804, the subterranean casemate was reconstructed in 1853 in order to accommodate the treasures evacuated from Dresden in case of war. At the time, three barrel vaults were constructed, connected by a communication passage.
In 1884, in connection with the construction of Battery 4, the Artillery Shelter III was established above the Treasure Casemate. A sandstone vault with additional earth filling was to serve the troops as a shelter or ammunition store.
